Panorama painting as a late rising art form, has been popular in Europe as a means of mass entertainment since its birth in the 18th century and soon spread to Russia and Japan, with the characteristics "Moving the scenery thousands of miles away to the audience" has attracted countless people to enjoy until the emerging of mass media such as movies and television, it has gone through decades of precipitation, finally, it returned to the public view in the middle of the 20th century. The development of panoramic painting in China has began in 1980s and got a good result in a short time. In this article. It is not difficult to find that from an aesthetic point of view, panoramic painting has the attributes of mass communication and aesthetics and the aesthetic appeal of imitation. It uses its own narrative nature, and at the same time shows the noble beauty, which is combined with science and technology. With the development of society, it is closely combined with industrialization and historical process. As a new and special comprehensive art, panorama plays a significant role in public art, cultural communication and historical records. Multiple means and three-dimensional representation create an artistic form that makes people feel telepresence. Give the audience a lifelike effect. And it also has a very important positive significance in cultural communication. We will mainly study the aesthetic attribute, aesthetic appeal and social function of the panoramic painting. On the basis of previous studies on panoramic paintings by artists and critics, the panoramic paintings in the history of domestic and international art will be integrated to analyze their internal scientific and technological means, working methods and social functions.
