Abstract

As an international sport event, marathon has a big fan base, with high social participation and low-barrier. In recent years, China's rapid socio-economic development and the comprehensive implementation of the Health China initiative have effectively promoted the vigorous development of China's city marathon, a large mass sports event, which has played an active role in driving the development of national fitness and sports industry. According to the "2019 China Marathon Big Data Analysis Report" released by the Chinese Athletic Association, a total of 1,828 large-scale events were held in all regions of China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) in 2019. This paper mainly studies the current development status of city marathon in China, comprehensively analyzes the impact of city marathon in promoting national fitness, urban marketing and urban publicity, explores the shortcomings of the city marathon development in China and proposes targeted recommendations, thus providing theoretical basis for the high-quality and high-level development of city marathon.
